What moves the price
- The car
- A big SUV has more paint than a coupe, and a bumper with deep curves takes longer to wrap than a flat door. Exotics with lots of vents and creases cost the most.
- How much you cover
- This is the biggest lever. The bumper alone is a small job. The whole car is days of work.
- The film
- Gloss, matte and colored film are different products at different prices. Good film is self-healing and made for the job, and the brand and warranty change the number.
- The install
- Labor is most of the bill. Wrapping edges, working around sensors and trim, and no visible seams all take hours. Cheap quotes usually cut here.
- The paint underneath
- Film locks in whatever is under it, swirls included. If the paint needs it, correction goes first (from $299 here), so the film covers a clean surface.
- What goes on top
- A ceramic coating over the film makes it easier to wash and keeps it glossy. It's priced separately (from $1,499 here).
A good quote has
- The exact panels covered, listed out
- The film brand and finish, gloss or matte
- How edges are handled, and whether they're wrapped
- Whether paint correction is needed first, and what it costs
- The warranty, and what it does and doesn't cover
- A pickup time
Questions
- How much is PPF for just the front of my car?
- A partial front usually runs $600 to $1,500 and a full front $1,500 to $3,500 at shops across the U.S. For a Rockford quote on your car, send the year and model and we'll tell you the number before any film is cut.
- Why do two PPF quotes for the same car differ so much?
- Film grade, coverage, and how the shop installs it. A lower quote often means thinner coverage, fewer wrapped edges, or less prep. Ask each shop what film they use, what's covered, how edges are handled, and what the warranty includes.
- Is PPF worth it on a daily driver?
- If you drive a lot of highway, yes, because that's where rock chips come from, and the front bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors take most of them. A partial or full front is the common choice. Full body makes sense on a car you plan to keep.
- Do I need ceramic coating on top of PPF?
- No, but it helps. The film stops chips, the coating makes the car easier to wash and keeps the gloss. Many customers do both.
- How long does a PPF install take?
- A bumper or partial front is usually a day. A full front takes longer and a full body can take several days. We give you a pickup time when you drop off.
