What moves the price

The coating
The number of layers and the grade of the coating set the price more than the brand name. More layers cost more and are built to last longer.
The car
A big SUV or truck has more paint to coat than a coupe, so it costs more. Expect the top of any range for large vehicles.
What gets coated
Body panels only is the entry price. Adding wheels, calipers, trim, plastics and glass adds time and product.
Paint correction first
A coating locks in the paint as it is, swirls included. If the paint needs correction, that is priced separately (from $299 here) and is often the biggest add to the bill.
The prep
Wash, decontamination and panel wipe take hours. A shop that skips prep can quote lower, and the coating will not bond as well.

A good quote has

  • The coating name, how many layers, and where each layer goes
  • Exactly what is coated: paint, wheels, glass, trim
  • Whether paint correction is included or priced separately, and what it costs
  • The prep that happens before the coating goes on
  • The warranty, and what it does and does not cover
  • Care instructions and a pickup time

Questions

How much does ceramic coating cost in Rockford?
At Woks Detailing, packages run from $1,499 to $3,199, and paint correction is quoted separately. Across the U.S., most shops charge about $500 to $2,000 or more depending on how long the coating is built to last.
Why is a cheap ceramic coating cheap?
Usually one thin layer, less prep, or no paint correction. Ask each shop how many layers they apply, what they coat, and what prep happens first.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Usually. The coating seals in the finish as it is, so swirls and haze stay under it. We look at your paint under the lights and tell you what it needs before you pay for anything.
How long does ceramic coating last?
With proper care, years. The multi-layer Silver and Gold packages are built to last the longest. We tell you what to expect for the package you pick and how to wash it.
Is ceramic coating worth it?
If you want the car to stay glossy and wash easily, yes. It resists light marring and chemical stains. It does not stop rock chips, and for that you want paint protection film.
